- Letters From Iwo Jima -

"The black sands of Iwo Jima are stained with the blood of the 20,000
Japanese soldiers who perished, but their sacrifaces, their struggles, their courage and
their compassion live on in the letters they sent home..."
- Letters From Iwo Jima
Letters from Iwo Jima is a gripping and haunting story. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not one to glorify war, but after two and a half hours of the show, I saw another side of the world that I wasn't able to and failed to see. Ignorance apart, most youths(myself included) in developed countries of today fail to appreciate life because we are in perpetuum, so sheltered from the harsh realities of life. Yet, this reason is not enough to justify our attitude. It is not my intention to sound hubristic, but our forefathers have fought hard, shed blood, and crucified in hope of achieving better lives for us, and yet we treat the lives they've struggled to give us with such indifference. Are we becoming less empathetic? I'm afraid so.
It is about time we opened our eyes to human frailty.
Awareness is what i have been searching for all this time. Whether its about life, studies or even love. If its possible, i want to be aware of Everything in this very world but the saddest thing of all, we need to be patient. Awareness do not just come in a blink of an eye. We need to explore life itself. What i am doing now seem pathetic but its a good start. Self-help book at times create a sense of awareness. (Dont literally learn tips from the movie, sch for scoundrels. They are Not even true )
